About the course:
The program consists of a Practical Assessment Exercise and Written Test
papers on Equipment and Principles & Procedures for Drillers and Drilling
Supervisors based on the IWCF Certification Standards. The Certification
Standards are based on a detailed analysis of the well control knowledge that
Drillers and Supervisors require, and the practical tasks that they have to
master, in order to perform their jobs responsibly. The standards have been
devised so that the measurement of their skills and knowledge can be assessed
systematically. The method of assessing the performance of an individual, at
both Driller and Supervisor levels, is divided into the following sections:
• A simulated practical exercise to assess practical skills
• Written test papers on Equipment and Principles & Procedures to assess
knowledge based skills
Who is this course for:
This program is intended for drillers, rig managers, wellsite supervisors, drilling
engineers, drilling superintendents, and shore-based supervisors who are
responsible for the development and supervision of Well Control during Rotary
Drilling Operations.
Upon completion of the course, the participant is able to identify the appropriate
techniques for supervising people and practices, as well as the importance of
proper selection, inspection, testing, operation and field maintenance of well
control equipment. The participant is also able to apply wellbore pressure
concepts plus well control strategies while on bottom, tripping in or out of the
hole, while out of the hole and shallow gas kicks.
Certificates (valid for two years) are available at the Driller's or Supervisor's
level in either surface or combined surface/subsea certification levels.
Course content:
